Fire on the Mountain by Edward Abbey (Paperback)

Fire on the Mountain is a short novel by Edward Abbey, the author of Desert Solitaire and The Monkey Wrench Gang. Set in New Mexico, it tells of an old rancher who refuses to give up his land to the government, seen through the eyes of his young grandson. A spare, moving story about independence and the American West, ideal for readers of classic western fiction.
