High Five by Janet Evanovich (Mass Market Paperback)

Stephanie Plum is back in the fifth book of Janet Evanovich's fast, funny bounty-hunter series. Short on cash and long on trouble, she takes whatever work comes her way, including a stint watching over a crack house that goes sideways almost immediately.

Meanwhile, a sheik's limousine vanishes, and when her mother begs her to find the missing Uncle Fred, Stephanie finds herself chasing leads through Trenton with her usual mix of bad luck and stubborn charm. Ranger and Morelli are never far away, which makes things more complicated and a lot more entertaining.

If you like mysteries with quick pacing, laugh-out-loud dialogue, and a heroine who survives on grit and junk food, High Five delivers. It reads fine on its own, though fans of the series will enjoy the familiar cast.
