Ritu in the Sun by Moniza Hossain (Hardcover)

Ritu in the Sun is a lyrical picture book by Moniza Hossain, illustrated by Merce Lopez, about a girl's experience with colorism. Ritu loves the sun in the morning, afternoon and evening, but her Nani worries that the sunshine will darken her skin. Through poetic text and vivid art, Ritu sets out to show her grandmother that every skin color is beautiful, including Nani's own, in a story about light, love and self-acceptance.
