The Secret History by Donna Tartt (Paperback)

When Richard Papen arrives at an elite college in Vermont, he is drawn into a small, secretive circle of classics students led by a charismatic professor. Brilliant, privileged and unlike anyone he has known, the group lives by its own rules, and their fascination with ancient Greek ideas leads them across a line they can never uncross.

Told by Richard years later, Donna Tartt's debut novel reveals early on that one of the friends has been killed and then explores how and why. Atmospheric, intelligent and gripping, The Secret History is the book that defined dark academia and remains a modern cult classic.
